Winter of the Gods by Jordanna Max Brodsky

cover100517-medium

My Review:

I actually didn’t read the first book in the series but I don’t feel it hindered my enjoyment out of reading this book. Ms. Brodsky has a wonderful skill in writing a world that is filled with magic and has interesting characters. After reading this one I went out a purchased the first book to read it and then I plan to reread this one. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and look forward to rereading it after reading The Immortals.

This was an enjoyable mystery story, the characters were interesting and I enjoyed the world that was built by the author. It was cool adding the fantasy element having Mira go into the story and it was one of the things that first interested me in this story. Overall I really enjoyed reading this and I hope there is more in the series as I enjoyed this one and can’t wait to read the first book in the series.

Mutant Mantis Lunch Ladies! (A Monstertown Mystery) by Bruce Hale

cover97929-medium

My Review:

I had enjoyed the first Monstertown Mystery book  Curse of the Were-Hyena it was fun and had an interesting idea, so I was looking forward to the next adventure of Benny and Carlos. This does not disappoint it still has the charm that the first book had and kept it fresh and fun. It was a real nostalgic trip as it  reminded me of Goosebumps and the Bailey School Kids, but this had an originality to it. The characters are really well done and I enjoyed going on their adventures. I hope there’s more to this series and the author as I’m hooked.

Ensnared by Rita Stradling

cover106525-medium

This book comes out December 18th 2017

My Review:

I’ve enjoyed Ms. Strading’s writing from Henchgirl so I was excited to read her version of a fairy tale, and it didn’t disappoint. This was one of the best Beauty and the Beast retellings, it’s charm is that it doesn’t feel like the typical fairy tale retelling. The characters were great and I really enjoyed reading this. I would recommend this to fans of fairy tales retelling as overall it was a really good retelling.
